Dog Life

Before we had Driscoe our dogs were our babies. We used to take them to daycare every single day! We were on that level of 'dog people'. They still live a very charmed life compared to most dogs, but things definitely change once you have a child. I used to get so incredibly annoyed when people would say, 'just wait until you have a baby, you'll see, you won't be the same with those dogs.' It would borderline infuriate me, then again I was pregnant, emotional, and at times, downright irrational. Fast forward to now, Driscoe is 14 months and the dogs have taken on a completely different role in my eyes. It's true, they aren't our 'babies' anymore like they used to be, but they are still a huge part of our lives, probably more so than before because our son absolutely adores them. Just when I'm at my wits end with Dusty running around like a wild man, I hear Driscoe dying laughing at him. Or when I feel like I'm going to scream if Bernice licks me one more time, Driscoe is running over for more kisses. Driscoe is a constant reminder of why we love dogs so much. Their unconditional love, silly behavior, and yes, even their doggy kisses help keep our house completely chaotic, just the way we like it. So maybe its true, it is different once the baby comes, but as long as you have sweet dogs that are happy about your new addition, then you will love those furry four-legged creatures just as you did before, even when they drive you completely bat-shit crazy.

The two wild banshees at Pup-Scouts, their old stomping grounds! We miss you Holly!!

{Dusty} our golden retriever mix we rescued from GRRH in January 2011. My dad coined his nickname, Doofus. He is wild, but so damn sweet. He is seriously Driscoe's shadow.
{Bernice} our Shih-Tzu, is not just any Shih-Tzu, she comes from a Champion Bloodline, she's even  AKC registered! BOOM. I was mourning the loss of our previous Shih-Tzu, Daisy, and splurged on Bernice, best decision ever! She is sweet and snooty and spoiled.

This is Dusty and my nephew Mo.....Dusty loves sniffing new babies.
