Currently on My Mind.........

I weighed in at a whopping 172lbs. the day I had Driscoe. Yea that's right, so what? I also left the hospital with majority of that weight, but it's okay because my man still weighed more than me. I love you D!

So yesterday at the doc I weighed in at 171lbs. I still have two weeks to go. Currently, the only thought on my mind is, either I'm bigger, or the baby's bigger.

For the love of you know what, I hope it's me.

That's all.

Marriage aint no joke.

It's serious and it's fun, it's cozy and delicious and it's work.  Hard work that nothing in life can really prepare you for.  Like take a serious look at yourself and question your thoughts, your reactions, your everything.
I am a newly wed.  I've been married 8 glorious months.  I am by NO means an expert.

In the last 8 sweet months I have eaten my share of humble pie, and I read something today I wanted to share.  Dr. Alexandra H. Soloman a clinical psychologist at the Family Institute of Northwestern University says the million dollar question that all happy couples are willing to ask, over and over:

"What's it like to be in a relationship with me right now?"

"Rather than me pointing out to you what it's like to be in relation to you, it's asking, what's it like to be with me? What kind of energy am I bringing into this relationship right now? How am I showing up?" Solomon says.

Approaching your partner in this way sets the conversation up for reconnection rather than distance, she says.

Along with that question, Solomon gives another solution to help couples reconnect. It's simple: Hold hands and make eye contact.

"It's very difficult to feel disengaged when we're looped in with eye contact," she says. "It just kind of kicks off this whole yummy physiological process of reminding us who the other person is and it can get the juices flowing and get couples started on the road to reconnection."

I love being married to this man, and I love what it is teaching me about myself, about life and about family.  I knew it would be work, but I never expected how rewarding that work would be!  I hope Dr Solomon's  advice helps you on those inevitable days when you want to claw your sweet spouses eye balls out.

002's Summer Market & Why I Fired My Brother.

This weekend will mark the most strange combination of sales pitches that I have ever given at any one time.

I will be selling some of my favorite things: doTerra Essential Oils, Laser Hair Removal & MoPho phone cases.

My brother was going to help sell essential oils & laser hair removal but he got fired before he even started. Some of his sales tactics were a little too colorful. Here's a few song & dances that he came up with all on his own:

  • "Hey you, with the crow's feet...come on over here!  We got an oil for that!"
  • "Excuse me, ma'am, you're looking a little chubby today!  We got an essential oil mix that will help suppress your appetite!  Au naturelle!"
  • "Hey Halitosis, honk that milk bone breath over hear and whisper without fear! It's called peppermint oil."
  • "Hey Unibrow, laser that now and ditch the cow (gf)!"
  • "You ...with the embarrassing, disobedient child...bet ya need somethin' to help put that nuisance to sleep at night!  We got somethin for ya!'*
  • 'Hey there, looks like you have extremely thick, coarse hair. Let me ask you: Does the carpet match the drapes?  You might want to look into laser hair removal!'*

What an a-hole. Two words: You're fired. Well actually, we need his manpower for setup and breakdown. But don't worry future customers, we won't allow him to talk.

Now that the snake oil salesman has been canned, come see us in a very safe and air conditioned environment! Should be fun!

Sarah is Giving a FREE Yoga Class!

Yes you read that right. Come to The Moonlight Dolls Studio tomorrow at 5:30 pm for a one-hour yoga class with Sarah!

Here are some of the highlights of yoga class with Sarah:
  • Yoga for All. It's perfect for newbies and yoga veterans. Sarah gives modifications for each pose. I promise that you won't feel like an idiot if you're new and you won't be bored if you're old (to yoga).
  •  Good Tunes. Sarah has always had an extensive music collection and her yoga playlist is no different. Be prepared to have your mind relaxed and body worked as you listen to everything from Led Zeppelin to Frank Ocean and every feel good tune in between.
  • Meditation. Have you ever had those days where you're exhausted because you've been thinking too much? It's not a good look for anyone. Meditation helps you to relax and let those tiring thoughts go. Sarah has a knack for giving you techniques that will help you to discover that happy, relaxing place that we all have at our very own fingertips.
  • Inspiration. Each day she will leave you with some words of wisdom to carry with you into the trenches of your shitty life. LOL! Kidding. Her words will give you strength, hope & guidance for each and every day.
  • Cold Wash Cloths, Essential Oils & Sarah's Magic Spell. There is this yoga pose called 'savasana' which is just a fancy word for planking, but on your back. It feels amazing when it's done after a long, sweaty yoga session. Some people get the same effect without having put in a workout and there's a fancy word for them too: lazy. Just kidding. The best part about savasana with Sarah is the cold wash cloth that she lays over your forehead while you're lying there with eyes closed and listening to soft tunes. Just when you think it won't get any better, she does thing thing where she rubs your face with her hands, which are doused with essential oils. I don't know where her hands have been, but I'm pretty sure they're clean because it's feels really nice and you won't want her to stop. You'll be back every week just to have her touch your face.
This could be you!
Or this could be you.

Don't be intimidated by Madame Bendy. We can all get to this point with practice!

Peaceful, easy feeling.
Discover your own power.

When: Wednesday, July 23rd from 5:30-6:30 pm
Where: 1000 Prairie, Houston, Texas 77002

Hope to see you there!

THREE MORE WEEKS......

I'm happy to report that since my little rant over how NOT to speak to a pregnant person I have felt more at peace about those people and their nice little comments. Not to mention, the stories I read after posting that had me laughing and cringing all at once, it totally helped me realize that everyone deals with this. Regardless, it's nice to get things like that off your chest, so my advice, vent away people!

I'm also happy to report that Driscoe and Donovan's rooms are ALMOST done. Here is a peek at the crib Daron spray painted for Donovan:

Crib//Jenny Lind by DaVinci //White $199
It came out so good, I just love it! We thought about painting it ourselves, but after reading horror stories on the difficulty of painting a Jenny Lind crib we decided to spray paint. I did have to sand it down a bit because Driscoe had teethed on it so much, and boy that was exhausting. I was SO excited to sand it too, I have no clue why?

We went with this spray paint because of a recommendation from a few blogs, it worked wonderfully! We used about 6 cans of the Red Banner. I say, 'we' haha, I did zero spray painting. I couldn't find anything about this being safe for teething however, so my plan is to try these. Other than spray painting the crib, I've just cleaned out closets, the rest of this room still looks like Driscoe's old room, and it's driving me nuts. I want it completely different, but in case you didn't know, it gets much harder to do things when you are 37 weeks. Of course I could ask Daron to do anything, but I'm also incredibly indecisive, I don't even know what I like, and Pinterest boards are not helping me narrow ANYTHING down, shocking I know.

As for Driscoe's new 'Big Boy Room'....he loves it! Even Dax loves it! I came home from work one day and Dax was over and the first thing he did was show me Driscoe's new room. Could they get any cuter?

Mustard Yellow Blanket//Target $37 Black and White Pillow// Ikea $10
Black and White Blanket//Ikea $19.99 Jenny Lind Bed// Land of Nod $799
Teal and White throw pillow//Target $15.99 Nighstand//Ikea $179
Dreamcatcher//Etsy $40
Rug//We had previously I think from RUGUSA.com Curtains//Also had previously from West Elm
Toddler//Not for purchase Basketball//Target.com Lamp//Target.com

We taught him the song about monkeys jumping on the bed and bumping their head. It's not resonating, he will not stop jumping, especially when that Gummi Bear song is on.
I LOVE how his room turned out, especially because it's big enough to hold all his toys! We finally have our living room back, well not 100% back, but maybe 80%.

I've been meaning to post more pics of the rooms because they have been done for about a month now, but I've just been so lazy! I don't remember feeling like this when I was in my third trimester with Driscoe? Maybe I wasn't as tired because I didn't have a 2.5 year old wild human being living in my house? Whatever it is, I hit a wall after a few hours of doing something strenuous, and because I'm spoiled by my husband, I sit my happy a$$ on the couch and just try to avoid my belly being hit by a flying toddler, which can be pretty stressful at times.

I did discover a new game the other day when Driscoe's rough housing partner had to run up to the office for a few hours. It involves coins and a piggy bank and that's it. He was occupied for over an HOUR. We just kept repeating, put the coins in, take them ALL out. He loved it, and my belly was safe, high five.

Post Office Mailbox Coin Bank & Mini Safe//Gift from Cathy (We love it!)

So anyways, 3 more weeks. Ready or not. I've been having nightmares about not being prepared, maybe if I bought some newborn diapers they would stop?
Why am I freakin' out?
