NYC bound

I leave today for a work trip to the big apple. bohoGrace is coming with and in between some really exciting business meetings, I can't wait to spend time with my little sis and - brace yourself, a little time away from my babies.  As soon as I say it I feel kinda bad "they won't be this little for long, it's just a phase, enjoy every moment, blah blah blah".  Yes they are amazing and hilarious and the loves of my life and I'm gonna miss them immediately but damn it will be nice to get just a lil break!  To not feel like I have screwed up something at least once a day (do other toddlers really brush their teeth?).  Maybe my constant back pain from carrying the lil wild ones will start to go away. Or my nose that has hurt for 2 weeks from 2 separate head butts will finally feel normal.  You write something like this and you feel like you are complaining and I don't think I am.  I find it all pretty damn funny!!!  I live with 2 wild boys that rock my world and I'm excited to go to the craziest, busiest, city that never sleeps to get a breather!    

Love you little wild ones!!!  And miss you already!

Wet weekend

The weekend is here!!  And it's going to be a wet one. 

My sweet brother-in-law is taking my future husband hunting this weekend.  Jason has never been hunting, it makes me giggle to think of him in camo attempting to shoot things in a torrential down pour.  Daron said doves don't fly in a hurricane, but that they will kill a lot of Grey Goose.  I can't wait to hear the stories. 

Julie and I are trying to figure out what to do and how to entertain the little people.  Thinking some sister slumber parties are in order- pizza, vino, milk and Elmo.  Does anyone else have rainy weekend suggestions? Or fun plans?  Want 2 silly sisters and 3 wild boys to come join?  :) 

Some random thoughts - 

If it stops raining I really want to walk to the new Coppa Osteria pizza window.

I ordered the coolest ring from Another Feather and am so ready for it to arrive!!

I read this and it made me happy.  And really happy to be happy.  

I have a few fun things to work on for my wedding.  And am so so SO grateful for my sweet wedding planner Megan!!

bohoEATS Turkey Taco Salad

TurkeyTACOSALAD

This is a great GO-TO For a week NIGHT FAST dinner.

2 tablespoons of Olive oil

2 lbs of Organic, Hormone free White Breast Ground Turkey 

1 bunch of Organic Scallions

1 bunch of chopped Organic Cilantro

3 Organic limes

8 Tablespoons of Penzey's Chicken or BOLD Taco Seasoning

1 package Organic Romaine Lettuce

1 head of Organic iceberg lettuce

1 chopped Organic jalapeño

Garnish: 

1 pint of Organic Spicy Guacamole or Make your own: 3 chopped or mashed organic Avocados, juice of 2 organic lemon juice, 1/2 bunch of chopped cilantro, tomatoes/green onion/red onion/jalapeño  optional mix and add salt/pepper

1 pint of cooked Organic Black Beans, or 1 can of Organic Black Beans low Sodium

In a nonstick pan sauté 2 chopped scallions,  1/2  bunch of chopped cilantro,  juice of   1-2 limes, jalapeño for spice for 2 minutes.  Add turkey meat to mixture and sprinkle with seasoning and  Cook throughly . 

Assembly: in a bowl  add both  lettuces, 1 scallion cut in half, turkey, black beans, garnish with  cilantro, guacamole,  jalapeño, and limes.

{Serve with a Fresh Margarita}

1 shot of Grand Mariner

2 Shots of Tequila( i like  Don Julio Anejo/Reposado, Corralejo, Patron Silver, Tesoro, or Casa Dagrones)

1 1/2 shots of Fresh squeezed Orange Juice (preference of amount, i like more than most people)

1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons/about 1 1/2 small limes) fresh lime juice

In A shaker pour grand mariner, tequila,   orange juice and fresh lime  pour over  ice

BREAKING NEWS: Houston's Moonlight Dolls Draft Donna Hood

Do you remember when the Oilers drafted Earl Campbell?  Neither do I. It was 1978 and I was negative eight years old. Stop counting on your fingers and keep reading. Or how about that time, back in 1984, when the Houston Rockets won the coin toss for first-round draft pick and selected a Nigerian-born junior center from the University of Houston. That same year, the Chicago Bulls used their no. 3 pick to draft an eager kid from the University of North Carolina. Then there was that one time, in 1985, when the 49'ers 16th overall draft pick turned out to be one of the best players to ever play the game of football. Who's that? I'll give you a hint, his name starts with a Jerry and ends with a Rice.

Why am I bringing up these significant moments in draft picking history? Why am I drawing near to such greatness? I'll tell you why. On Monday, September 16, 2013 The Moonlight Dolls, Houston's very own classic burlesque troupe, drafted Alvin-born Donna Hood. A true blue dancer, performer and entertainer, Donna Hood comes to us from Los Angeles by way of Kilgore. That's right. She was a Rangerette. Her stint at Kilgore was just the beginning. Represented by bloc agency, Donna's extensive dance resume includes but is not limited to hip-hop performances with Usher, jazzercise with the cast of Glee, touring with Dita Von Teese and contemporary dancing for the Zen Arts. Caymus is opening restaurants left and right on his scooter.

Gjelina is telling our fav Chef Brandi Key that she is hungry (shocker) and those pizza's aren't gonna cook themselves! 'Chop chop!'

Driscoe has since removed the crayon from his ear, and mommy finally trimmed those bangs. 

The newest bohoBaby, Camilla has approved her new nursery decor, but she is still enjoying her Mommy's tummy for the time being. She said please don't rush her, she needs her bohoBeautySleep.

I'm Terrified.

I think the terrible 2's are among us. They have been creeping around lately and scaring the living daylights out of me. What do you do when your cute little tot just screams at the fridge? Well, you could open the fridge and politely offer a yummy snack to the screaming tot, assuming they are hungry. But when terrible 2's are in full swing, those delightful treats are thrown right back in your face and the stomping and falling to the ground occurs. Now what? He moves to the pantry, begins yelling at that, so I open it, offer another snack, to which he responds:

'NO!!!! THIS!!!!!!!'

I show him what I think "THIS!!!!"  is, but it's not this,  and it's not that  and it's not anything  except the desire to scream and scare his mother and father. Is he sleepy? No, this is usually after his 2.5 hour nap, so he is rested and ready to battle, and i'm usually just getting home from work, exhausted and ready to give in. 

Like this day:

Popsicle before dinner? Sure, why  not? Then he ends up eating nothing for dinner. Awesome.

I read this article and it gave me some good tips. I need to work on deep breaths and redirecting, but I have to admit that most times, I just stare at him, wide-eyed, shuffling around trying to find what he needs to make. him. stop. whining. at. me.

I love him more than anything in the world which is why it's so easy to give in to his 21 month old demands, but I know that is not helping him in the long run, which is why i'm writing this. Anyone have some creative Terrible Two Tips for me with this little angel? Anyone? 

Seriously....you try saying 'no' to that face, it ain't ez. And every time I say no, I think of the scene in Almost Famous (1:08) where Anita comes home yelling at her mom that she is a YES person and her mom is trying to raise her in a NO environment . Dramatic? Yes, of course, but I don't want him to run away from home to become a stewardess!!! Alright, that was downright overboard. Whatever.

Today is a great day!!!!

My sweet little Morris Anthony DeVon is 1. 

He truly is the sweetest, most laid back baby I have ever been around.  I cannot believe he's mine.  We spent our first 4 months sleeping on the couch together every single night.  He still loves to fall asleep in my arms and bury his face in my neck.  His soft brown hair always smells yummy and he gives the sloppiest open mouth, runny nose kisses.  He has brightened my world in ways I didn't know were possible.  He wakes up in the morning with a smile and a happy squeal.  He rarely cries.  I'm not kidding, he is pretty darn perfect.  I love you so much my lil Mo, forever and ever and ever.  Happy 1st birthday.
