Sunrise report from Cabo!

Buenos Dias!!!

Well I slept in so missed that good colorful sunrise pic that my Dad gets, but this is the view from our room and it's pretty darn pretty. Even prettier was waking up to the sweetest video from Grace who is helping babysit my lil angels!  I can not get Dax to take pictures right now much less videos.  It's so fun to see the things they will do and way they love their Aunts and Uncles, they are so blessed to be growing up with them so active in their lives!  And damn they make good babysitters!  Love my family so much!!!

All In

I have FINALLY found something that I love and can pour my mind, body and soul into: The Moonlight Dolls and Prohibition. It has made me feel so happy and fulfilled that it would be wrong if I did not share my journey because I believe that everyone deserves to feel this exact same way. In the past, I found myself going through the motions each day, wanting to fully divulge myself into my work, but it just wasn't happening. I was fighting a battle but I couldn't quite figure out what I wanted the end result to be. I had no clear goal other than to get a nice paycheck. It wasn't cutting it for me. I. Was. So. Bored.

One day, I started listening to the message that was coming from inside of me. Have you ever really stopped to listen to what your heart is saying? It sounds so corny, but I am serious. Forget about what looks good on paper or what everyone else approves of and ask yourself, 'What do I really want?' If it's money and possessions then I can tell you that you'll need to dig deeper. Think BIGGER! You have to create a vision and have faith that you have exactly what it takes to make whatever it is that you want come to pass. If your heart is pure, and if what you want isn't driven by selfishness, then the money and the posesssions will come. Set a goal based on what your heart desires and God will do the rest of the work. Don't get me wrong, God will not type your emails or do your taxes, but he will place opportunities in front of you that you could have never discovered on your own. It is up to you to do the dirty work. There is a wonderful quote that I once read and it goes like this, "Do not lose sight of the big picture when doing small things." Yes, there are times when I'm doing day-to-day tasks and I want to blow my brains out. It's then that I stop, take a deep breath and remember why I am here in the first place. Discovering what I really wanted out of life has been a long road. There were times it seemed that I would never figure it out, but still, I did not settle. I refused to sit back and live a life of complacency. Everyone has something inside of them that they so innately desire, the problem is that it can seem so ridiculous we'll opt for the path of least resistance. That is not how God created us to be. We have been given so much more power but it's either misused, abused or worse, not used at all. I encourage everyone to spend time alone each day and contemplate what it is that you truly want out of life and what steps you can take that day in order to get it. Make a plan. Once you have a plan, believe in it. Believe in yourself and work hard. Be nice to people even when they are not nice to you. Take the high road. Do not seek revenge. Do not hold grudges. Do not judge. Forgive and forget. Make choices based on love and compassion. It's hard, but it's worth it. Once you start being true to yourself and being a good person, your dreams will unfold before your very eyes. I am living proof. If you don't believe me, then buckle up and follow me on this crazy journey as I strive to make The Moonlight Dolls a world-renowned song and dance troupe full of happy, motivated, strong people.

I went through my library and chose a few (a lot) of photos and quotes that I have found inspiring for one reason or other. I hope they help you too!

the weekend

It's always so fun to recap the weekend, I started out thinking of all the plans that got cancelled or I missed - a birthday party, a dinner, ACL, Houstonian fall festival (feels like a lot).  But then thought of everything we managed to fit in, the family I got to visit, the small things I discovered and tiny new angel I finally got to meet.

I met sweet Camilla Grey on Friday.  She is beautiful and petite and smells lovely, the most perfect way to start the weekend.  I spent the rest of my afternoon in a hot football helmet getting bossed around by a toddler, while watching little Mo bravely try to stand on his own.  He'll be 13 months this week, is in no rush to walk and I love it.  I secretly hope he never walks and lets me carry him forever.  Which is probably why he doesnt walk, because I love carrying him so much....hmmm.

I gave Mo a dinosaur on Saturday and he has not put it down, it's the first toy that Dax has not cared about and Morris loves.  It sounds silly, but makes me so happy to see him discovering his own personality and preferences, I want to go buy him every single dinosaur figurine I can find.  He also is loving greek yogurt, something no one else in our house will touch.  If I was throwing him a party tomorrow it would be a dinosaur greek yogurt party.

We took Dax to the Houston Grand Prix on Saturday.  It was hot and humid and loud and fast and awesome!!  He loved it and yelled "RAATHE CAR" the rest of the weekend.  Did I mention it was hot?  My Godmother Aunt Peggy & Big Mar babysat Mo, they taught him how to read and fed him Chinese food.  A lot of Chinese food.  We missed a birthday party and a dinner, I hate bailing on things and some days wish the long days were even longer, Saturday was one of those days.

Yesterday my Dad came to visit before he refereed some games nearby.  I'm pretty sure it was the first time in 33 years I cooked him breakfast.  I poached eggs that turned out kinda puny but he loved it, and it was fun to feed the man who always feeds us!  We spent the rest of the day at the house watching football, Jason cooked chili and Julie, Daron & Driscoe came by.  It ended with a bummer Texans game but pics of the cutest most loyal Texans fans, they could care less if they win or lose!

Happy Monday everyone!!

Love,
bohoSarah

Moving forward and happily looking back.

Well the time has come; tomorrow is officially my last day at my current job. I'm really excited about what the future may hold at my new gig, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad to be leaving this place and the friends that I've spent everyday with for the past 6 years.

I remember the day I came to interview, I just wanted to run errands for these crazy trader dudes and make a little money. I pretty much had zero expectations for myself besides doing just that.  Fast forward to now, and I have been given so many opportunities to work my way up to a great position where I have gained knowledge I didn't think capable for myself.  I know these opportunities I have been given are a rarity. Usually you have to do some serious interning and have a pretty big degree to help run the mid/back office at a hedge fund, or you have to work underneath senior schedulers before you get to start scheduling a book by yourself, but I have worked with people that saw potential in me, and forced me to see it in myself.

From then on I have always told myself that I can do anything as long as I work hard, and that's the attitude I will bring to my next gig.  To the dudes here that have always pushed for me in this office to take over responsibilities and tackle new tasks, I will always be grateful for the confidence you have had in me.  This has been the best 'first real job' experience I could have ever asked for.  The environment, the people, their families, it's been a real blessing, and I will miss it, but it's time for me to start a new chapter.  Thankfully I will be heading to a company I know and love with an opportunity to grow even more!  There is a saying I live by in my work life said by the one and only Conan O'Brien:

I can say with confidence that I have worked really hard, and I think I was pretty kind, so what i'm trying to say is, Conan is a genius.

To new chapters and old!! Cheers!

Cart before the horse?

A few years back when finding out that I was pregnant with sweet Dax, my smart, spunky,
resilient, strong and beautiful Grandma Grace mentioned to her namesake bohoGrace “well I hope she’s not putting the cart before the horse”.  My equally spunky little sister assured her yes the cart is in front of the horse, but that cart is moving full speed ahead, smooth as ever and that I had the most amazing cart mate in the history of the world.  I think about her comment every once in a while and smile, yes in some circles I put the cart before the horse, and it has turned out beautifully and is what works for Jason and I.

Fast forward to planning a wedding with a full time job and 2 babies, and that horse behind the cart is kicking me in the ass!!!  Would I change a single thing?  Hell no, but man I wish I was more detail oriented, I keep thinking of my dad’s saying “the devil’s in the details” and I’m terrified those details are going to kick me in the ass as well.  Like a cake, I haven’t thought once about a cake until a month ago a friend brought it up to me.  Wal-Mart sheet cakes are my favorite, why in the world can’t I just get one of those??!  Marble, with that whipped icing?  I could have that crossed off my list in 5 minutes, instead I have had 20 minute discussions, emails and scheduled tastings for the cake.  I keep thinking to myself, I do not have time for this, and cakes are not cheap....welcome to zee 90's.

But guess who loves cake?  These 2 cuties:

Other interesting details when getting married with 2 babies -

Who gets them dressed?  Because I want to! And I want to see them walk down the aisle, but I don't think I get to...and that kinda bums me out. Shit, now I think we need a videographer, another detail I am just now thinking of.

Who will take care of them during the wedding when they get restless, as we know they will?

Nanny and caretaker info, directions, car seats and transportation for the wedding.

Do we sleep at home together the night before the wedding?  Bucking the *gasp* tradition of Jason and I not seeing each other UNTIL the wedding?  These are the times when the cart before the horse makes me laugh, because we are planning this dreamy traditional CATHOLIC wedding with our two sweet babes in tow!

I have such an odd relationship with “traditional”; usually I just giggle at it.  But something about this wedding makes me crave it, and my relationship with God and the amazing blessings he’s given me with Jason and Dax & Mo and our family and friends makes me want to honor these traditions and be as respectful as I can. So I'm sharing with you some of the details I sit and ponder, luckily I am surrounded by so many helpful family and friends and the sweetest wedding planner.  But I could not be more excited about my traditional wedding and getting married in the Church, in front of God and my family and friends and my two babies.  Life is beautiful!!  And how boring it would be if it was all traditionally perfect...but gosh planning a wedding would probably be pretty easy.
