How To Get Your Toddler To Listen. It Works!

Have you seen the buzzfeed article comparing toddlers to tiny drunk adults?  It's true, I live with 2 toddler boys, they pee everywhere, are loud and hilarious, messy, emotional, and think farts are the funniest things ever.  Listening is not a strong quality for a toddler boy, they just do not listen.  I am constantly repeating myself, trying to figure out new ways to ask them to do things, and not complicated things.  I'm talking "Dax, please do not stick your finger in Mo's eyeball".  They do not listen.  So I had to share something I learned last week that has actually been working.  My sweet friend and mother of 2, Carla told me about a meeting she had with Dr. Donna Fry, Naturopath, CNHP.  She explained that if you gently touch your child's shoulder or arm when you ask them to do something, they WILL listen.

It works.

I'm serious.  I couldn't believe it the first time.  And I have done it repeatedly to make sure it still works, "Dax touch your nose" he will do it.  "Dax finish the food on your plate" he takes another bite.  "Dax, be nice to Mo" he hands him a toy.  Plus, when I am making the effort to gently touch him, my tone is nicer and more patient.  I am not constantly barking, begging or the worst, nagging.  It really is that simple, so give it a try and let me know if it works for your little drunk!
