bohoEATS…Healthy inspired Spanish rice…It's ALL GOOD Gwyneth Paltrow

I have been so IN LOVE with Gwyneth Paltrow's cookbook, It's All Good i have literally made almost everything in it!  bohoSarah told me about the blog, For the Love Of and she talks about how Gwyneth made her do it & shares her trials of cooking from the cookbook!  You can follow her on Instagram.

Here is one of my favs: Spanish Rice-I use Skinny Rice.  i LOVE the red/green colors- Recipe from It's All Good by Gwyneth Paltrow

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1 14-ounce can of whole peeled Organic BPA Free can Tomatoes
1/2 organic yellow onion, peeled and roughly chopped
2 organic garlic cloves, peeled
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil-sometimes i only use 1 1/2 tablespoons
1 cup organic long grain brown rice
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 c organic frozen peas
2 tablespoons of cilantro, roughly chopped

Combine the tomatoes with the onion, garlic & salt in a blender and puree until smooth.  Add enough water so you have 2 1/2 cups of liquid and set it aside.

Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick heavy saucepan over high heat.  Add rice and cook until rice turns opaque and smells nutty, about 3 minutes.  Stir in Tomato Paste, so the paste really gets into the rice.  Add the reserved tomato mixture and bring whole thing to a boil.  Lower the heat, cover the pot, and simmer until rice is cooked all the way through, about 45 minutes.  Take the pot off the heat, uncover it, throw peas on the top, cover again and let the rice sit for 10 minutes.  Remove the lid and stir in cilantro.  ENJOY!

Soft Opening of The Moonlight Dolls Studio & Art of Burlesque Menagerie

If you're in Houston this Friday come check out The Moonlight Dolls Studio! We'll be serving cocktails & hors d'oeuvres while introducing the 2014 Moonlight Dolls! Also, you can check out exactly what we are doing with this cool space! On top of it being a beautiful rehearsal facility for The Moonlight Dolls and other traveling performers, it will be a burlesque menagerie (that's a sexy word for museum) where you can browse photos and read histories of big-named burlesque stars. We'll also be holding burlesque fitness classes, workshops and private parties lead by The Moonlight Dolls! Can you say girls night?!?! OH! You might see a performance by one of The Dolls as well, but you didn't hear that from me.

This new venue has brought on an entirely new mission for The Moonlight Dolls: To elevate burlesque as a true form of art. In addition to focusing on the class and beauty of these performers, we want to bring the comedy back too! Did you know the word burlesque is derived from the Italian word 'burla' which means joke or mockery? If you knew that already, then gold star for you. If you didn't, then hopefully I've set you on a journey of burlesque enlightenment where you can begin to see past the raunchy reputation that burlesque has taken on over the years. We want to bring back the art of burlesque through ornate costumes and creative productions. I hope you'll come take a sneak peek into our studio and see what we're all about.

HOUSTON - The Moonlight Dolls have announced that they will be throwing a soft opening party on Friday, January 31, 2014 in their new studio space located at 1000 Prairie in downtown Houston.

For the past two years, The Moonlight Dolls have performed weekly shows at Prohibition Craft of Cocktails. Formerly located in the Galleria, Prohibition and The Moonlight Dolls have relocated to Houston's revitalized Historic District.

"It's an exciting move for The Moonlight Dolls. With a grandiose stage and historic venue, we are positioned to make Prohibition an actual landmark. We can properly execute the company's mission to elevate burlesque as a true art form," says Lian Nguyen, managing partner of The Moonlight Dolls.

In line with this initiative, the new studio, appropriately named The Art of Burlesque, will be a hub for traveling burlesque and vaudeville performers from around the globe to teach workshops, rehearsals and private lessons.
Showcasing historic photos, costumes and biographies of past and present big-named burlesque stars, the studio will be a mini-museum where visitors can travel through time as they learn about the evolution of burlesque.

"The meaning of burlesque has been diluted over the years. We hope to teach our audience a bit more about its origination and then astound them with an amazing show," says Grace Salinas, manager of The Moonlight Dolls.

In addition, the studio will serve as a rehearsal space and classroom where The Moonlight Dolls will lead weekly burlesque fitness classes and workshops open to everyone.

Sunday Family Dinner - January

In 2014 I want to be better about a monthly Sunday family dinner.  Include Jason and my extended families and cook a big fun casual dinner together.  Yesterday we kind of did just that, it was impromptu, unexpected and a blast!  We had burgers, perfect weather, family, some friends....and a new haircut.  Please don't kill me bohoJulia, but I had to acknowledge it. Sweet bohoBaby Driscoe got a haircut, and he is getting it fixed cut again on Thursday....stay tuned.

Dax & Driscoe were inseparable, they played all day.  Shared a chair, had a few fights, ate a ton of candy and split a coke.
Karter came to play!!  He is 2 months younger than Morris, has the cutest face and expressions, is super chatty and walking everywhere!!!
Mo is 17 months and not quite walking.  He truly is the most chill, mellow lil Dude ;)
Cheers!  Sharing a chair again.
Driscoe's "dare ya to say somethin about my bowl" face.
Aunt Grace & Dax.....I have no words for Dax's outfit.  He picked out his "stripes" American Apparel pants.
Grandma & Dax showing Driscoe their ninja moves.
Driscoe's ninja moves.
Driscoe's ninja moves are pretty spectacular.
The hungry familia.   Joe and Daron are matching,  shirts and faces.
And then this happened.  And this NEVER happens.
Babies were crashed out by 7PM, Jason and I watched the Grammy's in our pj's and it was a perfect lil unplanned Sunday.

Love,
bohoSarah
