Always a bohoBridesmaid, Never a bohoBride

Oh. You all thought this was going to be about me, didn't you? Jerks. That's it, I'm bucketing all of you with creepy Uncle Patrick*. There's one in every family. He always takes one too many photos: "That's right. One more. Different angle. Right there... Yep. Got it." His hugs always last a little too long, and he is the king of awkward exchanges regarding my love life, or lack thereof. 

I wonder how many times, over the course of the weekend, I will hear, "You're next!" *insert awkward dance move and soft shoulder punch* FML.

Or, after looking at all three of my nephews, he will ask, "Ready for one of your own?!?!" Yeah. Sure. Right after I choke down this Johnny Walker Black neat I'm going to browse Pottery Barn Kids for baby furniture. I hate you guys. This is about Sarah.

Since everything in this family's a competition, 1st place bridesmaid award goes to Sarah Salinas with 13 (THIRTEEN!) weddings! Bitch. And since this is my own blog post and I can be completely inaccurate, I call bull$hit on 80% of those friendships. Look ladies, don't make your bridesmaid lineup when you're drunk and roofied at a college party by your frat boy fiance. And if you're wondering where Jules and I stand in this competition I can tell you that we are lagging. I've been in three weddings (all were non-roofied decisions) and Jules has been in zero because nobody likes her.

Still, Sarah's bridesmaid skills are pretty impressive. In one wedding she went from pinch-hitter to MVP. Sarah Salinas was a stand-in! 10 years later her and the bride are best friends. In fact, this woman is now standing in Sarah's own wedding this Saturday. Ah, how I love happy endings.

So while everyone is soaking up the wedding bliss and slow dancing to 'The Power of Love' by Celine Dion, I'll be dodging awkward conversations by the punch bowl. Come find me...

Cart before the horse?

A few years back when finding out that I was pregnant with sweet Dax, my smart, spunky, 
resilient, strong and beautiful Grandma Grace mentioned to her namesake bohoGrace “well I hope she’s not putting the cart before the horse”.  My equally spunky little sister assured her yes the cart is in front of the horse, but that cart is moving full speed ahead, smooth as ever and that I had the most amazing cart mate in the history of the world.  I think about her comment every once in a while and smile, yes in some circles I put the cart before the horse, and it has turned out beautifully and is what works for Jason and I.  

Fast forward to planning a wedding with a full time job and 2 babies, and that horse behind the cart is kicking me in the ass!!!  Would I change a single thing?  Hell no, but man I wish I was more detail oriented, I keep thinking of my dad’s saying “the devil’s in the details” and I’m terrified those details are going to kick me in the ass as well.  Like a cake, I haven’t thought once about a cake until a month ago a friend brought it up to me.  Wal-Mart sheet cakes are my favorite, why in the world can’t I just get one of those??!  Marble, with that whipped icing?  I could have that crossed off my list in 5 minutes, instead I have had 20 minute discussions, emails and scheduled tastings for the cake.  I keep thinking to myself, I do not have time for this, and cakes are not cheap....welcome to zee 90's.

Other interesting details when getting married with 2 babies - 

Who gets them dressed?  Because I want to! And I want to see them walk down the aisle, but I don't think I get to...and that kinda bums me out. Shit, now I think we need a videographer, another detail I am just now thinking of.

Who will take care of them during the wedding when they get restless, as we know they will?

Nanny and caretaker info, directions, car seats and transportation for the wedding.

Do we sleep at home together the night before the wedding?  Bucking the *gasp* tradition of Jason and I not seeing each other UNTIL the wedding?  These are the times when the cart before the horse makes me laugh, because we are planning this dreamy traditional CATHOLIC wedding with our two sweet babes in tow! 

I have such an odd relationship with “traditional”; usually I just giggle at it.  But something about this wedding makes me crave it, and my relationship with God and the amazing blessings he’s given me with Jason and Dax & Mo and our family and friends makes me want to honor these traditions and be as respectful as I can. So I'm sharing with you some of the details I sit and ponder, luckily I am surrounded by so many helpful family and friends and the sweetest wedding planner.  But I could not be more excited about my traditional wedding and getting married in the Church, in front of God and my family and friends and my two babies.  Life is beautiful!!  And how boring it would be if it was all traditionally perfect...but gosh planning a wedding would probably be pretty easy.

Throw Back Thursday // Costa Rica Wedding Edition

This Sunday, April 21st,  Daron and I will be celebrating 6 years together. I was just skimming through our wedding pics and feeling so thankful for that perfect day. It was over the top and emotional and filled with family and friends, beautiful scenery and lots and lots of love. I mean, it literally ended with fireworks! You begin to wonder how it could ever get any better and i'm happy to say it can and it has! Our lives are still filled with lots of love, family, friends, and some beautiful sceneries, mainly, Driscoe. 

I hope you enjoy the pics below! I know my mother in law is so excited to see them again, she put so much work into this wedding, we always joke that it was actually her wedding. 

Fortunately she had a lot of help from Aimee Monihan, our wedding planner with

Tropical Occassions. 

She was so great and helpful, I know we could have never pulled this together without her. It's not easy planning from another country, especially when you don't know spanish!

 Still trying to figure out where I can wear that dress again. Once is not enough.

My dad gave me that rosary the day of, he got it from my Grandma.

Father-daughter dance song:  'Watching the River Run'. Its a favorite in our family.

My in laws surprised us with a fireworks show. I mean, no words. It was incredible.

 My dad sang our first dance song, Danny's Song, and then after that he added his own version of The Eagles, Peaceful Easy Feeling. It was a total sob fest, not a dry eye in the place.
