Jimbob's Friday Surf Report

Looks like high tide to me?
We are in Tiki enjoying this beautiful Good Friday morning, and I'm feeling so thankful for family and our Aunt Grace-Marie who is visiting us from California. We are glad you are here Aunt Marie! Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend.

Nerd Alert!

I'm OBSESSING over Spotify right now. I haven't been this excited about streaming music since the good ol Napster days.

In those days, all we had at the Salinas residence was dial-up and so I had to sneak online at night to download my songs so as not to tie up the family phone line.

Pshhhkkkkkkrrrrkakingkakingkakingtshchchchchchchchcch*ding*ding*ding* (the dial-up sound. You know you know it. Thank heavens we never have to hear it anymore.)

It felt like an hour before that thing would connect and I was free to roam about the world wide web. I'd download tons of songs, then hurry off to bed and wake up the next morning and check what made it in my library.

Things have changed since then. When Lars tattled on us Napster-junkies I tried other free downloading sites, but always ended up with a virus and the family computer would be shot to hell.  Needless to say I started buying my music like a good person and the days of stealing free downloading were officially over.

Then came Spotify. Grace was only slightly bugging me about downloading Spotify, and after I finally did, I saw what all the fuss was about. I have not had free* access to music like this in so long. Of course The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Garth Brooks (yes I needed him for my 90's country playlist), and some other bad a$$e$ are not available, but oh well!

The coolest thing is following other people and subscribing to their playlists. For instance, the meteorologist in my office, Larry Cosgrove, has some awesome playlists. I just subscribed to "Psychedelia'  which has everything you can imagine from the Woodstock era.

Foo Fighters Sound City playlist below...must subscribe!

You can create your own playlists too, or if you are feeling a little lazy, choose your favorite artists radio station and voila, you have Pandora again.

ALSO you can share what you are jamming out with everyone on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr and you can see what others are jamming out if you are following them. I love seeing what Grace and my best friends celebs are listening to throughout the day.

So, if you ask me, which no one has, and no one probably will for fear I'll geek out again and repeat this whole post, you should DEFINITELY download Spotify.

P.S. I realize I'm a year late, so there.

Click here to download the raddest music site EVER.

And to read about a new deejay program they just launced in the UK for your Spotify playlists, click here!

Wave your hand in the air and put a spoon in your mouth if you love Spotify!
Genius.

Come on Coppa Osteria

Coppa Osteria
The New Coppa Osteria in Rice Village is projected to open in late Spring 2013.  Here are a few of the exterior shots.  Drive by and check it out!

Located off Morningside and Dunstan in Rice Village in the Hanover Project.  I will keep you all posted on its progression...  Can't wait!  We have some tricks up our shelves...
We are also doing another Concept in the Hanover Project called
 PUNK'S SIMPLE SOUTHERN CASUAL!!!
We are always getting inspiration from our trips, day to day events and just life in general.  We went to New Orleans a few weeks back to see Alabama Shakes and picked up some inspiration there... I saw a lot of great ideas in Paris and London and yesterday we started collecting furniture for the two concepts!
SO FUN
We LOVE designing and doing all the legwork to get the perfect chair, table, etc!  My friends think we are Nutty for it but we Live for this! Here are some of our inspiration pics for the two projects, and of course we wouldn't be anywhere without our fab designer Julie McGarr!
Get READY!!!

Easter egg dyeing with a wild and unpredictable toddler

I saw online today where you put the eggs in a whisk and let the lil guys & gals dip away!

Dax loved it and sat still for a good 10 minutes.  He kept oooohing and ahhhing every time he would pull the egg out and look at the color.  He called them balls, until he started throwing and breaking them.

All in all it was a success!  He only drank the dye once (koolaid is a good option if you are scared of your bambino drinking the dye).  He broke most of the eggs which Bonnie eventually ate, so not much to show for the whole day other than these pics.

But did I mention he was happily still and entertained for 10 minutes straight??  SUCCESS!

I love Easter!

Baptising sweet lil Mo

Yesterday we baptized Morris Anthony DeVon, it was such a sweet and special day with our family and God.  Mo was a perfect angel and wiggled his whole body when the priest poured holy water over his  head.  He's now officially a Catholic boy and Aunt Grace & Uncle Joe are his very proud and loving Godparents!

I feel so blessed and blown away by this little family of mine.  And then to be surrounded by my brother and sisters and parents and in-laws and aunts and uncles it really was just a BLESSED day!

God is great!!
