Joe. Boat. Fish.

Happy birthday to my favorite brother, Joseph! He's one up on me right now  in terms of the lifelong score we've kept on each other (we've been doing that for 27 years now). He has nimbly taught my nephew Dax to associate 'Uncle Joe's' name with Joe's two obsessions: his boat and fishing.

Me: Hey Dax!
Dax: Joe, Boat, Fishing...?
Me: Dax, come hug your Ontie Grace.
Dax: NO! Boat..fish...Joe. *runs away*

I have to give it to you, brother, you sure have done a complete 180 from the jerk I used to know. Remember when you would bully me into doing boyish activities because Sarah and Julie were smart enough to tell you 'No!'? Like that time you convinced me to go hiking outside of Sarah's college apartment in Waco; you led me directly into a patch of poison ivy. You also took a dump in the woods, which I thought was pretty disgusting. Hey everyone! In case you didn't know, brothers don't care when their sisters are grossed out. Then remember when I hit college, and my friends got pretty, and then you suddenly wanted to hang out? 'Hey Grace, your brother is here with six of his friends.'

At least you learned something from all of that, as you were able to find a true beauty all on your own. *applause* Now you're a grown man and our newest competition is over who the favorite is amongst our nephews. Isn't life sweet? Enjoy your time at the top, bro. And just wait until Aunt Grace buys these boys their first can of spray paint and your boat needs a new name: 'Grace. G. Funky.'

Love you, Joe Boat Fish!!!!! Now let's celebrate!!!!!

For all the brothers out there, especially my own!! Happy 31st birthday!!!!
Love,
grace

bohoTherapy: Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

I did it! I quit my 9-5! Now what?!

Just kidding!!! The opportunities are endless. Right now I'm focusing on figuring out exactly what needs to be done within Prohibition, bohoBlack and of course, my own life. Just when things are on their way up, God throws me a curveball; this one in the form of a mini heartbreak. We all have them. Lesson learned: be a little more discerning when choosing a potential lover. Truthfully, I'm a bit relieved because I am so intense that if I do not have a partner who is on my level, then the scale gets off balance and it becomes this sort of tug-of-war. Ain't nobody got time for that! I want to be like Bonnie and Clyde, and if I can't have that, then I'm wasting time. As much as these heartaches can weigh down on me, I'm so thankful for them because it strips away all of the blue skies and butterflies and brings me back to reality. And guess what! Reality is sweet. One thing I have learned over the years is that what lies ahead of me is always far more exciting than what is behind. Thanks for the therapy session. Now...let's get it!

In therapy we trust,
bohoGrace

For all you Instagram Addicts.....

Social Print Studio (my favorite spot to print Instagram photos) just released their newest project, Instagram Greeting Cards!  (Applause!)  They even come with super cute brown kraft envelopes.  How fun is that?  I'll answer that for you, it's very fun.  And yes, envelopes can be fun.  These would be the perfect thank-you notes for Driscoe's 2nd birthday in November.  A picture of him from his party on the thank you note, Hello?!  That is going on Grandma and Grandpa's fridge in a heartbeat and in his baby book that I keep up with so well....not.
Here is what I did with the first round of prints I ordered.....
And this is how bohoS uses hers....

{I need to start doing that, she's so smart!}

I have also ordered 2 of their minibook's as a Mother's Day gift for mi madre & she loves them!  She carries them in her purse and uses as a brag book of her children and grandchildren, I'm sure no one is sick of seeing them.

Also, if you send them an email with a picture of your greeting cards they will refund your shipping;  they love customer feedback!  If you can't tell by the hundred exclamation marks I have used in this post I'm really excited and kind of a big fan! Did I mention your order will come with a cute sticker?

he's 2

August 7, 2013 Dax Joseph DeVon turned 2.

I planned a little gathering with some of his play-date buddies, thinking cupcakes and pizza (his favorite), small and simple.   Then Jason found a small bouncy house that would fit in our back yard, a snow cone machine and I remembered that with our family, small and simple just isn't realistic.

The party was a blast and easily the happiest day of Dax's 2 year life.  He jumped, he laughed, he chased the girls, and he got serenaded by his Grandpa Jimbob.  We ended the night with a group hug and Dax went to sleep in a new Elmo t-shirt with his lightsaber.

You guys, I do not even know how to explain how much I love him.  I cried and still cry every time I think of how fast he is growing.  It feels so ridiculous, but it's been 2 weeks since his birthday and I still can't write this without shedding tears.  I wasn't like this when he turned 1, 2 is different....he's not a baby anymore.  He walks more than I carry him, he feeds himself, he tells me he loves me.  A few other things about this little person that I am so blessed to watch grow.

He always is looking out for his brother "Morrith"
He thinks Jason is the most perfect interesting funny human being that ever existed
He always greets "Deecoe" with a big hug and kiss
He thinks that his Uncle Joe lives on a boat with his fish and has a helicopter
He's not a big eater, but loves pizza and broccoli
He says "oh shit" a lot, definitely my fault
He's bossy
Adores his grandparents, aunts and uncles
Loves the water, hates the sand
Always asks for his cousin Trevor
Loves to say NO, hates to hear NO
He's girl crazy
He loves his teata (bottle) and his mina (blanket)
Negotiates delaying bed time by requesting couch time
Loves getting his hair slicked back
Has had me wrapped around his lil finger since day one.
